Welcome to

South Bay Math Circle

Founded in 2016, South Bay Math Circle is a non-profit enrichment program dedicated to inspiring the next generation of mathematicians. Our mission is to introduce elementary and middle school students to mathematical concepts not typically covered in traditional classrooms while also offering older students’ meaningful opportunities for community service and mentoring. With the support of our devoted high school volunteer mentors, we strive to strengthen students’ problem-solving and critical-thinking skills and guide them as they navigate the next steps of their mathematical journey.

Our sessions focus on preparing students for AMC 8, MATHCOUNTS, and the PVPUSD Elementary and Intermediate Math Field Day competitions. Each November, we host a fun, low-pressure math tournament that allows students to apply what they’ve learned and experience real competition. High school volunteers benefit as well, developing leadership skills through mentoring. Throughout each session, students explore effective strategies, tackle challenging problems, and engage in a collaborative environment where asking questions, sharing ideas, and learning from one another are always encouraged.
